Tagua Nut Knob Classic

Tagua has the same creamy look and satiny texture of ivory, but because it comes from the nut of the Tagua Palm, it is elephant-friendly and ecologically sustainable. Like ivory, it acquires a natural yellow patina with age, but it is less brittle. It has been used as a substitute for ivory for over 200 years, often in buttons and other fine decorative objects. These knobs are hand-carved by Ecuadorian artisans, so no two pieces are exactly alike.
Often called “vegetable ivory,” the nut of the Tagua Palm is a 100% natural alternative to animal ivory and plastics. These nuts are harvested from Tagua Palm trees in Ecuador, Panama, Colombia and Brazil. They provide an eco-friendly source of revenue for rainforest communities, and provide employment to skilled artisans and harvesters. Length: 1-3/64"Width: 1-3/64"Projection: 1-3/8"Size at base: 9/16"Includes mounting screw.
